Pune, May 28 : Heat wave conditions prevailed in the plains of the country, as Ramgundam in Telangana sizzled at 47.2 degree Celsius, whereas the conditions were likely to become favourable for further advancement of Southwest Monsoon in some more parts of South Bay of Bengal, Andaman Islands and north Andaman Sea, during the next 72 hours.

According to the weatherman, sweltering heat was observed in some parts of Vidarbha, Telangana and Tamil Nadu.Day temperatures were markedly above normal in some parts of madhya Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, south interior Karnataka and in remaining parts of Telangana.

They were appreciably above normal in some parts of Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, west Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra and Kutch, Marathwada, coastal and north interior Karnataka and Kerala and in remaining parts of Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha and Tamil Nadu.

They were above normal in some parts of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal, Sikkim, west Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, coastal Andhra Pradesh and in remaining parts of Assam and Meghalaya, Odisha, east Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, coastal and south interior Karnataka and Kerala.Day temperatures were below normal in some parts of Assam and Meghalaya and in remaining parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh. They were normal over the rest of the country.

Heavy rainfall was likely to drench Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.Moderate to severe heat wave was expected to in isolated places were very likely over Vidarbha, Heat wave conditions in some parts with severe heat wave in isolated places were very likely over Telangana.

Isolated places in Vidarbha and Telangana were likely to simmer, with moderate to severe heat wave expected in the places, while heat wave conditions were likely to affect some parts of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and isolated places of Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Rayalaseema.

Thunderstorm and lightning accompanied with squall (winds reaching 50-60 kmph) were very likely over Odisha, gusty winds (40-50 kmph) at isolated places very likely over Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, gusty winds (30-40 kmph) at isolated places very likely over Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalaseema, during the next 24 hours.

Rain or thunder showers have occurred at most places in Andaman and Nicobar Islands and at many places in Assam and Meghalaya and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and at a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Lakshadweep.

Rain or thunder showers also occurred at isolated places in Odisha, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, north interior Karnataka, south interior Karnataka and Kerala.

Mainly dry weather prevailed in Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and coastal Karnataka.  UNI
