Hyderabad,May 3 : BJP Telangana unit President K Laxman has ended his indefinite fast at the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) here on Friday following deterioration of his health.
Dr Laxman who began his fast at the party's state office on Monday last demanding justice to the intermediate students, had been arrested by police and shifted to NIMS where he continued his fast. The senior BJP leader ended his fast following pleas by Union Minister of State for Home Hansraj Gangaram Ahir and other BJP leaders. He broke his fast by sipping fruit juice offered by Mr.Ahir. Mr Ahir said that Dr Laxman was urged to end the fast as his condition was deteriorating.
The Minister said it was 'unfortunate' that so many students had ended their lives following the Inter results goof-up. He appealed to the students not to resort to extreme steps. The Union Minister demanded the dismissal of State Education Minister G Jagdish Reddy and the
Secretary of the Board of Intermediate Education for the results bungling. Mr.Ahir also demanded an inquiry by a sitting judge into the results fiasco. UNI
