Hyderabad, Apr 1: Congress President Rahul Gandhi has launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi describing the latter as the "Chowkidar of rich and not the PM of the country".
Addressing the party's election rally at Zahirabad in Telangana on Monday, Mr. Gandhi said that Mr.Modi was the "chowkidar" of 15 richest people in the country including Anil Ambani, Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi and charged that his actions had benefited these rich people to the tune of thousands of crores of rupees.
The Congress Chief said that Mr.Modi had also failed to keep his promises to create two crore jobs every year and deposit Rs five lakh in the bank accounts of the poor. Making a strong pitch for his pet scheme to provide Rs.72,000 per annum to the poorest families under the minimum income guarantee scheme, Mr Gandhi asserted that this scheme would remove poverty from the country.
The minimum income guarantee scheme, which will benefit 50 lakh people in Telangana alone, would be implemented if the Congress was voted to power at the Centre, he added. He said that other schemes would also be worked out to create jobs for the rural youth and for the benefit of farmers in the country. UNI
