Hyderabad, Mar 21 : Holi, the festival of colours was celebrated in Hyderabad and in other parts of Telangana with full of religious fervor and gaiety on Thursday.
Cutting across social barriers, people from all walks of life participated in the celebrations, dancing, singing, sprinkling of colours and applying 'gulal' to each other.
Joyous scenes were seen in residential colonies where the festival was celebrated by people from different parts of the country in their respective traditions. Young revelers astride their two-wheeler were seen going around the streets exchanging "gulal" and greeting with each other.
Wishing the people, Governor E S L Narasimhan, in a message, said the spirit of Holi transcends all social barriers and strengthens the social fabric and symbolizes the triumph of good over evil.
In a message, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said people should celebrate Holi, the festival of colours, with happiness and joy. UNI
