Hyderabad, Mar 18: The process of filing nominations for the Lok Sabha election on April 11 began in Telangana following the release of notification by Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar on Monday.
Telangana will go to the poll in the first phase.
Nominations will be accepted till March 25 except on March 21 because of Holi festival and March 24 being a Sunday.
The scrutiny of nominations will be taken up on March 26 and the withdrawal of nominations will be on March 28.
Buoyed by its spectacular victory in the Assembly election held in December last, the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is striving to make a clean sweep of the Lok Sabha election.
The TRS is contesting 16 of the 17 Lok Sabha seats in the state leaving one seat to its ally Majlis-e-Ittehadul-Muslimeen.
The Congress is hoping to put up a keen fight in the poll. (UNI)
