Hyderabad, Feb 6 : Parige Papavva, mother of Telangana Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, passed away at a government hospital in Banswada in Kamareddy district late on Tuesday night.
She was 107. Pocharam was the third son to Papavva and her husband Parige Rajireddy. The couple had three daughters and two sons.
Papavva, who has been suffering with age-related ailments for several months, was admitted to a hospital a couple of days ago after her condition was deteriorated. She passed away at around 11 pm last night, while undergoing treatment.
The members of the family including Speaker Pocharam rushed to Banswada upon learning about the sad news. The funeral rites will be performed at Banswada on Wednesday afternoon.
In a message , Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao expressed his condolences on the demise of Papavva. The CM spoke to Pocharam over phone and expressed his condolences to the members of bereaved family.
Telangana State Legislative Council Chairman K Swamy Goud, MPs, MLAs and MLCs expressed grief over the death of Papavva and offered condolences to the Speaker. (UNI)
