Hyderabad, Nov 29: The Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday charged that the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre and the KCR-headed government in Telangana had watered down the land acquisition law.

Addressing a public meeting at Bhupalpalli, he charged that both Mr Modi and KCR ensured that the fruits of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, which had been adopted by the Parliament in 2013 ,did nor reach the beneficiaries including the poor farmers and tribals.

He said that if the Congress was voted to power the land acquisition law would be implemented all over the country adding that the UPA government had also made laws to protect the rights of the tribals.

The Congress chief said that reservations for tribals would be provided based on their population and a Tribal university would be established in the state.

He said that the NDA government was trying to privatise all public sector undertakings in the country.

He promised that the party government in Telangana would waive Rs.two lakhs loans of farmers and provide minimum support price to 17 crops.

Reiterating that 4,500 debt-ridden farmers had committed suicide in recent years,Mr.Gandhi assured that farmers and jobless youth would be provided loans through banks.

The Congress government in the state would also provide employment to educated youth. He also lambasted the state government for deceiving various sections of the people including the workers of Singareni Collieries who had played a key role in the agitation for separate Telangana. (UNI)
