Police seize Rs 97 lakh from hawala operators

Hyderabad, Nov 22 : The City task force have seized Rs 97 lakh from two hawala operators here on Wednesday night.

On a credible information, Sleuths of Commissioner’s Task Force, North Zone Team along with Mahankali Police have intercepted a two-wheeler carrying huge cash and busted an illegal Hawala Money Transfer Racket near RP Road X road, Secunderabad and apprehended two persons -- Mohd.

Siddiq Ahmed, owner of Ahamad Tours and Travels and Western Union business and Mohammed Muneer, Arabic Tutor, said City Task Force (Hyderabad) Deputy Commissioner of Police P Radhakishan Rao, in a release here on Thursday.

Besides cash of Rs 97 lakh, an Honda Activa, three mobile phones were also seized from the possession of accused persons. The 40-year-old Siddiq used to receive and deliver the Hawala money on commission basis on the guise of Western Union Business under instructions from another accused Faheem (Hawala operator). UNI
