New Delhi, Sep 15: Even as the Congress in Telangana is all set for a grand alliance with the TDP, CPI and others, former Congress Minister DK Aruna on Friday opined here that it may not be a smooth drive.
Addressing mediapersons here, Ms Aruna said the Congress proposal to get truck with arch rival Telugu Desam may not be a smooth drive.
Ms Aruna came to the national capital, along with TPCC Chief N Utham Kumar Reddy, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy and other leaders, to meet AICC chief Rahul Gandhi. Gandhi reportedly asked the Telangana leaders to take a decision at state level on alliance with others.
Ms Aruna said the Congress and the TDP alliance may carry disparate signals to people and was likely to cause a sort of inconvenience at field level. She reasoned that for 30 years, the Congress activists have been fighting against the TDP in rural areas. TDP votes will not be translated in favour of the Congress, if both of them go together in the polls, she opined.
Congress will win the elections on its own, she hoped. Congress can allot seats to TDP, if it has winning horses, Ms Aruna suggested. Some of the TDP leaders are in touch with the Congress and seeking tickets to contest the polls, she added. UNI
