TAMIL NADU, June 07 2020 : The Government has regulated rates that can be charged by private hospitals for treatment of Covid following complaints that many are fleecing the people.
A GO has divided them into four categories and fixed rates accordingly.
Hospitals in A1 and A2 should charge a maximum of Rs 7,500 for general ward. Those in second and third categories can charge upto Rs 5000 a day. The ICU charge should not exceed Rs15,000 for all.
The government has said those covered by the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance can get treated at private hospitals also.
Treatment is free in government hospitals.
