Man from Chennai dies of COVID-19 in Pondy

Puducherry, Jun 6 : A 45-year-old man hailing from Thousand Lights area in Chennai died of COVID-19 here on Friday. According to police, Jyothi Muthu married a girl from Villianur near here and his wife came to Puducherry to meet her mother and was stranded because of the lockdown. Muthu after a long time came to Puducherry two days back in a taxi to meet his wife and suffered a heart attack. He was rushed to the government general hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Following this, the body was sent to the government medical college for post-mortem. Before the post-mortem, he was tested for COVID-19 and found positive. His body was brought to a crematorium at Villianur in an ambulance and was lowered down into a 15 ft deep pit by the Health and Villianur Commune Panchayat workers and buried. None of his family members participated in the funeral. Since he is from Chennai it is learnt that his death will not be counted in Puducherry account. (UNI)
