Tiruchirappalli, May 26 : The district police on Monday arrested a 14-year-old boy for murdering a minor girl, after she resisted his sexual assault attempt at Krishnasamudram village near Manapparai in this district. The nine-year-old victim, a Class III student was found lying unconscious with severe bleeding injury on her head in a jasmine farm in the village on Sunday afternoon. She succumbed to the injury at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital on the same day night.
Police recovered a blood-stained stone and shirt from the spot. After a detailed inquiry into the gruesome murder, police arrested the boy, who was studying Class IX in a government school in the area, where the victim was also studied. The boy confessed that he lured the girl to the jasmine farm and attempted to sexually assault her. As the girl resisted his attempt and screamed for help, the boy hit her on the back of her head with a stone repeatedly and fled the spot after abandoning his blood-stained shirt. The boy was arrested under Section 302 of IPC and also under the provisions of POCSO Act and lodged in government observation home, last evening. (UNI)
