Tamil Nadu, May 23, 2020 : The Tamil Nadu Government said hair-dressing salons and beauty parlours which were earlier allowed in rural areas will now be allowed in all cities and towns except in Chennai and in containment zones from Sunday.
It said the saloons should be sanitized five times a day. The hair-dresser and the customer should wear face masks. The barbers should wash hands frequently and also give hand sanitisers to customers.
Social distance of six feet should be observed, it said, not explaining how. It said it would be explained in another GO.
It said customers from containment zones should not be allowed, nor those with symptoms. How barber shops will test their customers was left hanging.
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisami, in whose name all press releases are issued, said the saloons should not hire workers from the containment zones.
Subject these guidelines, barber shops can function from 7 in the morning till 7 in the evening, he said.
