Chennai. May 18: Amid extension of COVID-19 lockdown till May 31, the Tamil Nadu government today allowed opening of saloons in rural areas from tomorrow. Announcing this Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, in a statement here, said based on the requests from the hairdressers it was decided to allow functioning of saloons in rural areas from tomorrow.
''I have ordered functioning of saloons, in areas other than those coming under Chennai police limits, other Corporations, Municipalities and Panchayats, from tomorrow'', he added. He also advised those working in saloons and the customers to wear face masks, maintain social distancing and advised the barbers to wear hand gloves, besides disinfecting the premises five times a day and hand wash with soaps at frequent intervals.
