Tamil Nadu Government on Friday reported 434 more Covid positive cases in the State, taking the total to 10,108. With five more deaths, the toll reached 71, the health department said.
With 359 getting discharged on Friday, the number of those cured reached 2,599. It also said 11,672 patients were tested and 434 turned positive.

Of the 434 new cases, 309 were from Chennai, taking the total in the district to 5,946 which is over 58 per cent of the overall incidence in the State.
Adjoining Tiruvallur three deaths and 21 new cases on Friday, taking the total to 516. Chengalpattu reported four deaths and 20 new cases, total 450. Kanchipuram reported one death, eight new cases and total 164.
Madurai reported two deaths,nine new cases and total 132. Thoothukudi accounted for one death,three new cases and total 38. Tiruvannamalai recorded one death, three new cases and total 140.
Vellore recorded one death though no new cases were reported and its total remained at 34. However neighbouring Villupuram recorded two deaths and total cases were 306. Cuddallore reported three more cases and total 416, but no deaths.
Virudhanagar reported one new case and one death and cases totaled 146. Dindigul had one death and one new cases, total 114.Ramanathapuram recorded one death and one new case and total 31. Theni recorded one death and one new case with total at 72.
Perambalur had two new cases and total 139, but no casualties.Erode reported one death, but no new cases and the total 70.
Thanjavur and Tenkasi reported one case each with totals of 71 and 56, but no deaths.
