The Tamil Nadu Government while saying that despite the rapid spread of Covid cases in the State, the mortality remained low, found that the deaths were also increasing. With eight more deaths because of Covid confirmed , the toll mounted to 61.
Chennai which accounted for half of the total number of cases in the State for several days now, naturally topped the list of deaths also. It accounted for 39 out of 61 deaths. Neighbouring Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram and Tiruvallur and Villupuram which added another nine to the tally. The remaining 13 were distributed across the districts.
The eight confirmed on Tuesday to have died of Covid infection, included three men all 60 plus and five women, ranging between 40 and 59.
The Government said all had comorbidity like high BP, high sugar, and one woman was a cancer patient.
