Tamil Nadu has got 24,000 rapid testing kits out of the 1.25 lakh kits it has placed orders for import from China, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisami told reporters in his native Salem town on Friday after holding a review meeting.
He said his government had asked the Centre to allocate more testing kits.
Palani said in Salem itself, 27 new Coronavirus cases had been reported and seven of them had been discharged after treatment.
He said a committee of experts by the finance secretary would take a call on what are the industrial units can be allowed to reopen from Monday, April 20.
The Centre has allowed States to allow certain industries to start functioning. It has also allowed farm activities in view of the current kharif crop season.
Palanisami said farmers were free to move their produce anywhere in the state and sell them.
