A 96-year-old man died in Karur Government Hospital in Tuesday morning, taking the Covid deaths in Tamil Nadu officially to 12 but actually to 14.
This is because a man from Palakkad who died in Coimbatore on Sunday and a Nellore doctor who died in Apollo Hospitals in Chennai on Monday are added to the tally of Kerala and Andhra Pradesh respectively.
Health Secretary Beela Rajesh said the death counts were added to the States from the patients had come as per the World Health Organisation guidelines. The Karur victim was the oldest and he got the infection from his grandson who had come back after attending the Tablighi's event in Delhi last month
Both were admitted to hospital on April 9. While the old man has died,his grandson is undergoing treatment
This was the first death in Karur which has a relatively low incidence of Covid cases.
