Chennai, Mar 19 : Three more tested positive for coronavirus in Tamil Nadu today with two of them being Thailand Nationals and one from New Zealand, taking the total number of cases to six. Confirming this, Health Minister Dr C Vijayabaskar in a series of tweets all the three patients were undergoing treatment in isolation.
He said all the six positive cases are imported cases from different regions with travel histories and not community transmitted. He said screening was intensified in all parts of the state, including ports, railway stations, airports and inter-state borders. ''3 positive cases confirmed, 2 Thai nationals & 1 from New Zealand. Patients are undergoing treatment in isolation. ''New cases were already quarantined & in our radar. Screening is more intensified at all ports of arrival including Railway,dom.arrivals & interstate borders'', Dr Vijayabaskar said. Earlier, three people tested positive with travel history. While one of them was discharged after treatment, two others--a person from Delhi and a 21-year-old student from Dublin in Ireland--were isolated and under treatment.
On COVID-19 update in the State, he said a total of 2,01,672 passengers were screened till date, 8,950 were under followup, samples tested 412 (Negative-339, Positive-3 (one discharged), under process-70. beds in isolation wards-1120 and current admissions-54, he said. (UNI)
