Chennai, Mar 19 : Tamil Nadu reported the third positive case for Coronavirus, Health Minister Dr C Vijayabaskar confirmed today.
The patient, who tested positive, was a 21- year-old student from Dublin in Ireland. On his arrival on March 17 at Chennai, he was screened and home quarantined. He reported to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH) yesterday with symptoms. His samples sent for testing confirmed positive today, the Minister said.
He was under isolation at the RGGGH and his condition was stable. In a tweet on Corona Update, Dr Vijayabaskar said '21 Y student from Dublin,Ireland tested positive for #Covid19. On his arrival on 17.3 @Chennai,he was screened & home quarantined.Y’day18.3 he reported to RGGH with symptoms.Samples sent for testing yesterday, confirmed positive today.
Patient is stable in isolation at RGGH.' On COVID-19 update in the State, he said a total of 1,94,236 passengers were screened, 3,481 were under followup, samples tested 320 (Negative-232, Positive-2 (one discharged), Under process-86). 'Beds in Isolation Wards- 1120 Current Admissions-39', he said. Dr Vijaybaskar, who visited the Stanley Government Hospital for inspection of COVID-19 infection prevention preparedness, said the hospital has a 31 bedded isolation ward as per protocols and an exclusive fever clinic was also set up.
