Stalin condemns the lathicharge on anti-CAA protesters

Condemning the police lathicharge on anti-CAA protesters in Chennai, DMK chief MK Stalin has called February 14 a Black Day.

He also alleged that it was a planned attack by the government. He demanded that all the cases against the protesters be withdrawn and called for action against policemen who were responsible.

Thousands had gathered in protest against the CAA, NRC, and NPR. The situation escalated after some protesters were reportedly forcibly removed from the protest site which led to a commotion between them and the police.

The police resorted to lathi-charge as the demonstrators were admant. Police said four cops, including a woman deputy commissioner, two women personnel and a sub-inspector were injured in stone-pelting. Protesters claim that some protesters were also hurt.

Police have arrested few protesters. Protesters in hordes raised slogans demanding the release of those who were detained by Police.
