Wilson murder: prime suspects nabbed


The Karnataka on Tuesday arrested two prime suspects wanted for the murder of special sub-inspector Y Wilson in Kanyakumari district last Wednesday.

Abdul Shameem and Toufeeq, identified on basis of CCTV footages, were nabbed on the basis of information provided by Ijas Ahmed an alleged gun runner who was held in Kalasapalayam in Bengaluru on Monday.

The two, both natives of Kanyakumari, were arrested at Uduppi railway station. They will be handed over to Q branch of the Tamil Nadu police which is investigating the case. Police said Ijas Ahmed smuggled four 9 mm pistols from Mumbai and gave one to Shameem and Toufeeq. They shot dead Wilson at Kaliyakavilai checkpoint in Kanyakumari last Friday when he intercepted their car coming from Kerala.

The spent bullets recovered from the crime scene showed they were fired from a 9 m m pistol.

The two will now be brought to Chennai by the Q branch police for production before a Chennai court for remand. The police have already secured three Muslim youths to whom Ijas supplied guns in Bengaluru last week. They are now in judicial custody in Puzhal prison in Chennai.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister on Monday handed over a cheque to Wilson's wife Angel Mary. Besides this solatium, the Chief Minister has promised a government job for a member of his family on the basis of qualification. Wilson has left behind his wife and two daughters.
