Wilson murder: gun supplier nabbed in Bengaluru


The Q branch of the Tamil Nadu on Monday arrested Ijas Ahmed, a driver in Bengaluru on the charge that he supplied gun to the killer of police sub inspector Y Wilson at a checkpoint in Kerala border last week.

Ijas Ahmed was arrested on the basis of three information given by three suspects held earlier in Bengaluru. Police said Ijas Ahmed had admitted that he got four guns from Maharashtra. He gave three to Bengaluru men and one to Mohd Shameem who used that gun to shoot dead Wilson when he intercepted their car at Kaliyakavilai checkpoint in Kanyakumari when they were returning from Kerala.

Police said all four were 9 mm pistols and their bullets match two recovered from the crime scene.

The three, all Muslim youths, are in police custody in Chennai. Ijas Ahmed will also be brought to Chennai and produced in a local court for remand. The Mohd Shameem and Toufeeq identified as killers on the basis of CCTV footages are still at large and several special teams have been to hunt them down.
