BJP seeks action against Tamil orator

S.Murari

The Tamil Nadu unit of the BJP has lodged a police complaint against Nellai Kannan, one time Congress leader and public speaker for saying someone should " finish off" of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah who have enacted the controversial Citizenship Act and now planning a National Registry of Citizens.

Srinivasan an officer-bearer of the Tamil Nadu BJP has uploaded Kannan's rant against Modi and Shah in his twitter account and sent copies to the party's central leadership. He has also lodged a formal complaint with the DGP of the State, seeking action against Nellai Kannan on the ground that his speech will inflame passion and disturb law and order.

The speech was made by Kannan at an anti CAA protest in Tirunelveli on Saturday. In the uploaded video Kannan is seen addressing a group of Muslim. He is heard saying he made a similar speech in New Delhi. He is likely to be arrested soon.

Nellai Kannan who is seen as Congressperson in public perception, instigates violence against our Hon Home minister. People of Tamilnadu are shocked. TN police should take strong action against Nellai Kannan.

Prof. Sreenivasan, Official Spokesperson, Tamilnadu BJP, tweeted: “Nellai Kannan who is seen as Congressperson in public perception, instigates violence against our Hon Home minister. People of Tamilnadu are shocked. TN police should take strong action against Nellai Kannan.”
