Nagapattinam, Oct 31 : National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday carried out simultaneous searches at multiple locations in Tamil Nadu, as part of its investigation into the Islamic State (IS) inspired terror module that was planning to carry out terrorist attacks in India with the intention of establishing Islamic rule.
The searches began this morning and was currently underway at two locations in Coimbatore district, Nagore in Nagapattinam district, Kayalpattinam in Thoothukudi district and Ilayangudi in Sivaganga, preliminary reports quoting police said.
The raids were conducted in the houses of persons, suspected to have links with some of the arrested persons in Tamil Nadu-based radical Islamic outfit ‘Ansarullah.’ The NIA officials have taken into custody one Mohammed Ajmal, after raiding his house at Nagore for questioning, the sources said.
