In a last attempt to save 2-year-old boy Surjeeth Wilson who trapped in a borewell at Nadukattupatti village in Tiruchirapalli district of Tamil Nadu, L &T giant driller is gently drilling hard rocks as any vibration will lead to subsidence in the neighbouring well where the boy is trapped.
So only 35 ft has been dug since the work began at 7.10 a.m on Sunday. The rescue effort face more agonizing delay as the the toddler slipped down further to a depth of about 100 feet on Saturday evening. Now, it will take another four hours to reach to a depth of about 100 feet where the boy is currently stuck at.
ONGC Giant rigs have already been deployed. Once the hard rock has been broken using drilling, ONGC rigs will start digging a 90 ft well parallel to the existing one and from there dig a horizontal tunnel so as to reach the boy.
But what worrying the officials is that there is no sign of life since 5.20 a.m. on Saturday morning, according to Minister Vijayabhaskar. Anyway, officials are determined to rescue the boy at any cost.
Meantime Rahul Gandhi has joined nationwide prayer for the safe reunion of Sujith Wilson with his parents.
