Rameswaram, Oct 1 : Sri Lankan Navy allegedly chased away several Indian fishing trawlers, when they were engaged in fishing activities near the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) early on Tuesday.
The fishers, who returned to Rameswaram fishing jetty, told newsmen that more than 2,000 fishermen had ventured into the sea on Monday morning.
When they were fishing on the high seas near the IMBL, the Lankan naval patrol crafts encircled a number of fishing boats and warned the fishermen to leave the zone.
They also snapped the fishing nets of at least 10 boats cast on sea, they said.(UNI)
