Car dealer commits suicide in Chennai

Reeta Lankalingam, joint managing director of a car dealership in Chennai, was on found dead on Thursday at her Nungambakkam residence in what police suspect is a case of suicide over business losses after the slump in demand for cars. She was 50.

Her husband Lankalingam who is the managing director of Lanson Toyota showroom in Koyembedu, was not in the house when she was found hanging.

Servant maids knocked on Reeta's room after she failed to turn up for breakfast on Thursday morning and then informed police and her husband.

The Nungambakkam police broke open her room and found her dead. The police has registered a case of unnatural death and are investigating as no suicide note has been found

The couple’s son lives with his family elsewhere in Chennai while their daughter is abroad.

Apart from car dealership, the family is into other businesses, it is said.
