Murder accused hacked to death in city

Chennai, Sep 10: In a retaliatory attack, a murder accused cab driver, who was on bail, was hacked to death at Villivakkam area in the wee hours of Tuesday.

Police sources said the accused, Baskar (42), he was walking near his house when an unidentified gang covered his face with a cloth, used a spray on his face and hacked him.

Baskar suffered multiple injuries on his neck and in other parts of the body. He was rushed to Kilpauk Medical College where he was declared dead.

The murder was a sequel to the killing of All India Other Backward Classes (AIOBC) General Secretary J K Puthiyavan on February nine this year.

One of the gang members identified as Subash, who happens to be the brother-in-law of Puthiyavan.

Baskar had worked as car driver of Puthiyavan, who was employed in the mechanical department in Carriage works of Integral Coach Factory (ICF), and left the job due to some differences.

Baskar had allegedly paid Rs five lakh to Puthiyavan to get a job in the railway department for his brother. Since he did not adhere to his promise and also not returned the money, Baskar and his friendmurdered him in February this year.
Baskar was remanded to custody and recently came out on bail.

To avenge the killing, the family members of Puthiyavan murdered Baskar today.

Police have registered a case and formed special teams to nab the killers. (UNI)
