Palaniswami winds up UK visit, leaves for US

Chennai, Sep 1 : After winding up his UK visit, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, on the second leg of an official foreign tour, on Sunday left for the United States of America, where he will be joined by a couple of his cabinet colleagues tomorrow.

Health Minister C Vijayabaskar, who is accompanying the Chief Minister in London, will travel to New York as well where they will be joined by Dairy Development Minister K T Rajenthra Balajee, Animal Husbandry Minister Udumalai K Radhakrishnan, Revenue Minister R B Udhayakumar, who have already left for US.

During his visit, Mr Palaniswami will meet US-based entrepreneurs, NRIs and top executives of MNCs Ford and Caterpillar to attract investments. The Chief Minister will also hold discussions with Foxcon and Lincoln Electric executives at San Francisco, besides travelling to California state to discuss technical collaboration for the state-of-the-art livestock park planned at Thalaivasal in Salem district.

Mr Palaniswami would also interact with the Tamil diaspora and Tamil entrepreneurs and also with the San Francisco-based Bloom Energy to attract investments. On his return to India, he would visit Dubai on September eight and nine where he would address a meeting of entrepreneurs to be organised by the Indian Consulate and Business Leaders Forum, as a special guest.

He would return to Chennai on September 10. During his London visit, Mr Palaniswami interacted with various investors and top officials. He visited the IP Switch Smartgrid factory at Suffolk to explore the possibilities of technology transfer in solar and wind energy generation systems that could be used in Tamilnadu.

During his visit, an MoU was signed with King's College Hospital to set up its branch in the State, besides studying the helicopter ambulance facility to introduce it in Tamil Nadu to offer treatment to people in far off places. (UNI)
