Chennai, Aug 2 : An alert fisherman on Friday nabbed a man, who tried to buy fish during an auction, using fake currencies at Kasimedu in North Chennai.
Police sources said Arumugam (30), a native of Krishnagiri, came to Kasimedu fish market for purchasing fish during an auction. He paid Rs 10,000 under Rs 500 denominaton. When the fish seller started counting the notes, he found that seven notes were fake. The fishermen caught him red handed and alerted the patrol police.
When the police searched him, they found Rs 12,000 original currencies. Arumugam claimed that the amount he used to buy fish was given by a friend. Police took him into custody for further questioning to find out from where he got the fake currency. (UNI)
