Chennai, June 29 : Top seed Arunava Majumder of West Bengal and second seed Kundana Sri Bandaru of Tamil Nadu annexed the boys and girls titles respectively
in the TNTA National Series Sub-Junior (Under 14) Tennis Tournament held here on
While Left-handed Kundana made short work of third seed Ruma Ashutosh Gaikaiwari
of Maharashtra defeating her in 6-2, 6-0 in straight sets for the loss of only two games
in 75 minutes, Majumder, trailing 2-5 in the first set, rallied back and won 11 games on
the trot to defeat Nithis Baalaji Latha Nallusamy 7-5, 6-0.
Using her strong fluent forehand, Kundana dominated throughout the match. Ruma
did start with a lot of determination, but it waned after the first three games.Kundana received 75 AITA points for her effort while Ruma received 50 AITA points.The boys final was exciting as the second seed and slightly built Nithis Baalaji used
excellent court-craft to take a 3-0 lead and stretched it to 5-2.
On the other hand, Arunava who was playing defensive tennis till then, began to play
more fluently and positively to reel the next five games in a row to win the set 7-5.
This seemed to have sapped the mental strength and stamina of Nithis Baalaji.Arunava ran through the second set 6-0 to win the title.Arunava received 75 AITA points while Nithis Baalaji received 50 AITA points.
