The Tamil Nadu Government is understood to have decided to appoint, J K Tripathy, an IPS officer with a clean record and proven competence, as DGP (law and order) . He will succeed T K Rajendran who retiring on Saturday.
Rajendran, who is already on a two-year extension, is likely to be appointed security adviser to the Tamil Nadu Government, according to reports. Tripathy, a 1985-batch IPS officer from Odish earlier served as Chennai police commissioner in 2011 under late Chief Minister J Jayalalitha.
The Government is also understood to appoint Governor’s secretary R Rajagopal as the new Chief Secretary in the place of Girija Vaidyanathan who is retiring in July.
