Tamil film superstar Rajinikanth and his fellow star and leader of Makkal Needhi Maiyam Kamal Haasan have been invited to attend the swearing-in of the new BJP Government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on May 30.
The Leader of the Opposition in Tamil Nadu and DMK president M K Stalin has also been invited. But he is likely to be represented by senior members of Parliament T R Baalu and A Raja, according to reports.
Rajini has always been close not only to Modi but also old BJP stalwarts like L K Advani. He was the among the first to congratulate Modi on his massive mandate. He is sure to attend the function.
Kamal is also likely to attend though his comment made at the height of the campaign that independent India’s first terrorist was a Hindu and it was Nathuram Godse did not go well with the BJP. Unlike Stalin, Kamal cannot deputise anyone as his party has drawn a blank in the just ended elections, it’s first.
