Pseudoephedrine seized by NCB, 4 held

Chennai, May 25 : Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officials have seized 25 kgs each of pseudoephedrine, a controlled substance under NDPS Act, by NCB Delhi and Mumbai Zonal units respectively and four residents of Chennai were arrested in this connection.

A NCB release here on Saturday the seizures were made on May 20 and 22 based on the intelligence shared by the NCB, Chennai Zonal Unit.The arrested persons at New Delhi and Mumbai implicated another resident of Chennai as the kingpin involved in trafficking of pseudoephedrine from India to Malaysia.

The NCB Chennai officials traced the kingpin, a 32-year-old resident of Mylapore area, who was trying to escape by air apprehending arrest.This resulted in further recovery of 49.5 kg of pseudoephedrine which was meant for smuggling to Malaysia.

Along with the seized drugs, the arrested person was remanded in judicial custody today, the release said. UNI
