Thoothukudi, May 14: BJP state president Tamilisai Soundararajan stirred up a hornet’s nest by claiming that DMK President M.K.Stalin was holding talks with her party for a post-poll alliance.
Addressing the media here, she said “Stalin is now holding talks with the AICC president Rahul Gandhi, Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief K.Chandrasekhar Rao on Federal Front and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for forming a post-poll alliance.
Referring to senior AIADMK leader and Tamil Nadu fisheries minister D.Jayakumar’s remarks that the DMK is now sending out ‘feelers’ to the BJP seeking cabinet berths , she replied, ‘Yes. It’s true.’
Stalin knows that the BJP is all set to win the Lok Sabha elections and hence he is in touch with the party for a post, she said.
However, she refused to reply a query through whom the DMK was engaging in dialogues with the BJP. Tamilisai said the DMK was sending feelers and trying to establish contact with the BJP as everyone knows that the BJP will sweep the polls.
On the talks between the DMK chief and Chandrasekhar Rao, she said that the BJP and the AIADMK were a strong alliance and that there was no reason for the alliance to be concerned about the meeting.
She further said Chandrasekhar Rao’s talks with Stalin would not have any impact on the BJP. The third front or any number of fronts would only favour the BJP. If there is one leader in Tamil Nadu for wrong calculations, then it is Mr.Stalin. He is in confused state as poll predicaments’ were in favour of BJP, she added.
Tamilisai justified today’s election flying squad searches in the campaign van of Stalin, vehicles of DMK functionaries and the resort where the DMK chief was scheduled to stay after election campaign in Thoothukudi.
These searches should not be politicized, she said and added the election officials conducted searches in the helicopter used by Mr.Narendra Modi, besides BJP president Amit Shah and herself were subjected to searches.
Meanwhile, strongly refuting and condemning Tamilisai’s comments over DMK holding talks with the BJP, Stalin said he would quit politics if the claim made by Tamil Nadu BJP president was proven.
In a statement, he challenged the BJP that if the claim was proven wrong, will the state BJP chief and Prime Minister Narendra Modi also quit politics. (UNI)
