New Delhi, May 9: After the Chief Electoral Officer in Tamil Nadu reported that poll officials forgot to format the Electronic Voting Machines after mock polls, the Election Commission has ordered repolling at 13 polling booths which would be held on May 19 along with the last phase of Lok Sabha polls.
In its order the Commission said that the repolling will be held in eight polling booths in Dharmapuri, two in Theni and one each in Thiruvallur, Erode and Cuddalore Assembly constituencies. In Tamil Nadu Lok Sabha polls were held in the second phase on April 18.
It is learned that the state CEO reported to the Commission about the error that occurred and recommended re-polling in the specific booths.According to reports, the poll officials recognised that it did not format the EVMs after the mock polling and the votes polled during mock polling were likely to be counted with the actual votes.
Bypolls in four Assembly seats, Aravakurichi, Ottapidaram (SC), Sulur and Tirupparankundram, too will be held on May 19 in Tamil Nadu. (UNI)
