The DMK candidate for Thoothukudi Kanimozhi told reporters on Wednesday that late night income-tax raid on her camp residence yielded nothing.
She said a team of officials came to search her house. They could not produce any document. Still, she allowed them to search the premises. Later they themselves admitted that they found nothing and that they had acted on a false complaint.
Kanimozhi is contesting against Tamil Nadu BJP’s State president Tamilisai Soundrarajan for the Lok Sabha.
The raid came hours after the cancellation of the Vellore Lok Sabha polls following recovery of Rs 11.5 crore cash from a godown of an associate of DMK treasurer Durai Murugan and from a college run by his son Kathir Anand on March 30. Kathir Anand was DMK candidate.
Terming the cancellation of the Vellore Lok Sabha poll and the income-raids on Kanimozhi’s temporary residence in Thoothukudi as an attempt by the Modi and Edappadi regimes to malign his party ahead of the polls, DMK president M K Stalin said ” We will not be cowed down by such threats”.
