Actor politician and former DMK member of Parliament R K Ritesh died in Ramanathapuram on Saturday after a massive heart attack
Ritesh, who got elected as a member of Parliament as a DMK candidate from Ramanathapuram in 2009 and later joined the AIADMK in 2014 , died after campaigning for the AIADMK candidate Nainar Nagendran.
He complained of uneasiness and was rushed to a local hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Ritesh was 46 and is survived by his wife Jotheswari and a son.
Ritesh had acted in many Tamil films like Kaanal Neer, Guru and Pen Singham. His last film was LKG released in February . It marked his comeback after a gap of ten years. His role in that satire as a politician won critical acclaim.
Born in Kandy in Sri Lanka, he moved to Rameswaram in 1976. After he joined the AIADMK, he was made deputy secretary of the MGR Youth Wing for the Ramanathapuram district.
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisami and Deputy O Pannerselvam, who are also coordinators of the AIADMK, have offered their condolences to Ritesh’s family.
