Chennai, Apr 9: Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth, who has confirmed his
entry into politics but said his target was 2021 Assembly polls, on Tuesday welcomed the manifesto of the BJP that speaks about the need to interlinking of rivers.
In a brief chat with reporters in front of his Poes Garden residence here, he said 'I had said earlier that there is a need to fight water crisis.'
'The BJP manifesto speaks about it. I welcome it', he added. Asked about actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan' remarks that Rajinikanth would support him in this Lok Sabha polls, he said 'I had made my political stand very clear as far as this election is concerned.'
'Don't try to create enmity between me and Kamal Haasan', he said, adding, 'Thanks a lot.Thanks a lot for sharing.I agree with you.'.
Rajinikanth had already announced that he would neither contest nor support any political party in the Lok Sabha polls. He said his target was only Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu and advised his fans and members of Rajini Makkal Mandram to vote for those, who could find
a permanent solution to the water problem of the state and provide a stable and strong government at the Centre.
He also appealed to all political parties not to use his name, his mandram's name, his photo or their flag, during campaigning of the polls. Rajini had on the eve of the 2017 New year said that his entry into politics was confirmed and that he would be contesting all the 234 Assembly seats in Tamil Nadu in the next elections. However, he was yet to launch his own political party, even after he had said
that 90 per cent of the works of launching the political party has already been completed. UNI
