Thanga Tamilselvan, Amma Makkal Katchi general secretary T T V Dinakaran’s right hand man and one of the 18 MLA disqualified by Assembly Speaker, is contesting from Theni Lok Sabha constituency where Deputy Chief Minister O Pannerselvam’s son P Raveendranath Kumar is in the fray.
The one- year-old party, which has decided to go it alone in the Lok Sabha polls as well as the Assembly by-elections, has given a ticket to former AIADMK Sholingur MLA NG Parthiban in Arakkonam. Former AIADMK Anaicut MLA K Pandurangan has been fielded in Vellore and former State Ninister P Palaniappan in Dharmapuri where PMK's sitting member Anbumani Ramadoss and the DMK’s S Senthil Kumar are also in the fray.
M Bhuvaneswaran is contesting from Thoothukudi where he will be up against DMK Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi and BJP State President Tamilisai Soundararajan. The party candidate E E Lakshmanan will take on BJP’s sitting MP and Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan and a Congress rival in Kanyakumari.
P Santhanakrishnan will be contesting from Chennai North. Former MLA G Senthamizhan will contest in Arani and lawyer and politician P Jothimurugan in Dindigul .
Other MP candidates are S Ganeshkumar ( Krishnagiri), A Gnanasekar (Thiruvanamalai), Gomukhi Manian ( Kallakurichi), S Paramasiva Ayyappan (Virudhunagar) and KR Karthik (Cuddalore ).
The party has renominatd 13 out of 18 disqualified MLAs. The others have either been dropped or given Lok Sabha ticket.
The AMMK is also contesting the 18 Assembly by-elections. Among its candidates are TG Mani (Shollingur) DK Rajendran (Pappireddipatti), R Thangadurai (Nilakkottai--SC), S Kamaraj (Thiruvarur), M Rangasamy (Thanjavur), R Jayakumar (Andipatti) Kathirgamu (Periyakulam-SC) and K Jothimani (Vilathikulam).
