Chennai, Mar 16 : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami
accompanied by some of his Cabinet colleagues on Saturday met alliance party leader DMDK chief and actor-politician Vijayakant at the latter's residence in the city.
DMDK sources described the meeting, which took place days after the AIADMK clinched the seat sharing deal, as a courtesy call. The Chief Minister enquired about the health condition of Vijayakanth as he recently returned from US after treatment.
The AIADMK, which had revived its alliance with DMDK after a gap of eight years, has allotted four of the total 39 seats to it for the next month's Lok Sabha elections.However, the constituencies were yet to be identified for any of the allies, which included the BJP (five seats), PMK (seven), Puthiya Tamizhagam, New Justice Party and Tamil Maanila Congress (one each).
The AIADMK would contest in 20 seats, while allotting the lone seat in Puducherry to AINRC. The meeting took place at a time when the AIADMK was all set to announce the list of the constituencies in the presence of alliance party leaders.
Ministers C Vijayabaskar, Dindigul C Sreenivasan and Kadambur Raju accompanied Mr Palaniswami during the meeting in which DMDK Treasurer and Vijayakanth's wife Premalatha and DMDK Deputy General Secretary and Vijayakanth's brother-in-law L K Sudheesh were also present.
After the meeting Mr Palaniswami, who is also the joint coordinator of the AIADMK, visited the AIADMK headquarters and held discussions with Coordinator and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on finalising the constituencies and contestants. UNI
