The Madurai bench of the Madras High Court on Friday directed the Tamil Nadu Government to withdraw its GO on transfer of Pollachi sex scandal case to the CBI on the ground that it had asked the complainants to disclose their name and address.
A division bench comprising Justices N Kirubakaran and M Sundar asked the Government to withdraw the skewed order and issue a fresh one to protect the identity of the complainants.
Passing orders on public interest legislation, the bench hoped departmental action would be taken against Coimbatore superintendent of police Pandiarajan who revealed the identity of the 19-year-old college girl who brought the scandal to light by lodging a complaint.
The court also directed the Centre to remove leaked videos from social media and the State Government to create awareness so that they are not shared.
The bench posted the matter before the first bench of the high court.
