DMDK joins AIADMK front, accepts four seats


The Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam(DMDK) of actor Vijayakanth, after keeping its options till the last minute, joined the AIADMK front for the coming Lok Sabha elections, accepting the four seats offered to it against its demand of seven seats on a par with the Pattali Makkal Katchi(PMK).

The agreement was signed on Sunday night by DMDK of founder Vijayakanth and by AIADMK coordinator O Pannerselvam and joint coordinator Edappadi K Palanisami. The seats will be identified later. The AIADMK is said to be palm off the tough North Chennai seat on the DMDK, besides three of its choice.

Under the agreement, the BJP has been given five seats, the Pattali Makkal Katchi seven, plus one Rajya Sabha seat, four to the DMDK and one seat each to Puthiya Tamizhagam and Puthiya Janayaga Katchi of SRM Vice-Chancellor Pachamuthu. The AIADMK is now left with 21 seats out of 39 from Tamil Nadu.

The .AIADMK has given the lone Puduchery seat to N R Congress. ( Likewise, the rival DMK also had left Puducherry to Congress)

Tough Vijayakanth signed the agreement, he took part in the joint press conference with AIADMK leaders Pannerselvam and Palanisami. With him werehis wife and treasurer Premalatha and brother-in-law and deputy general secretary Sudeesh.
