Tight vigil on TN-Kerala border for injured Maoists

The Tamil Nadu police have stepped up vigil along the border with Kerala, particularly in the western districts of Nilgiris and Coimbatore over possibility of two maoists injured in a gun battle with the special Kerala police Thunderbolt on Wednesday night crossing over for treatment.

The vigil has been mounted following the encounter in Vythiri in Wayanad in Kerala in which one maoist was killed and three escaped with bullet injuries. The police have sounded an alert in urban and tribal hamlets in Nilgiris and Coimbatore to inform them of presence of any injured person.

Similarly, hospitals in and around Nilgiris have been asked to contact police immediately, if any one got admitted with bullet injuries, police said.

Vehicle checks have also been intensified along the border.
