The DMK president M K Stalin visited the families of the two CRPF jawans who were killed in a terrorist attack in Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir, offered his condolence and handed over a cheque of Rs 2 lakh to each.
Stalin visited jawan Sivachanran's house in Karaikudi in Ariyalur near Tiruchi on Sunday. He visited the family of the other jawan, Subramaniam in Savalaperi village in Thoothukudi district on Monday.
The AIADMK Government has already given a solatium of Rs 20 lakh each plus a government job to the next kin of the two jawans. In fact, Deputy Chief Minister O Pannerselvam handed over the cheque to Subramanian's wife on the day of the funeral. Likewise, another State Minister attended Sivachandran's last rites in Karaikudi and handed over a cheque to his wife who is expecting a second child.
Union Ministers Nirmala Sitarman and Pon Radhakrishnan attended the funerals at Ariyalur and Thoothukudi respectively and paid their last respects. Stalin paid his respects in his capacity as Leader of the Opposition in Tamil Nadu and presidnet of the DMK.
