Agency News

Salem, Feb 2 : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Saturday said Leader of the Opposition and DMK President M K Stalin was trying his best to topple the AIADMK government and remove him from the post.

He was speaking after laying the foundation stone for three new flyovers to be constructed at a cost of Rs 40 crore and distributing welfare measures of various departments worth Rs 12.26 crore to 4,049 beneficiaries during the event. He said Stalin was always thinking about him. “I think that even when he is sleeping, he thinks only about me. He keeps planning something or the other to remove me from the Chief Minister’s post'.

'He (Stalin) makes strategies to achieve his goal. But with the support of people, all his strategies have been defeated', Mr Palaniswami said.

Referring to Mr Stalin's Grama Sabha meetings, he said in  these meetings, he makes false allegations against the  government. He said during former chief minister J Jayalalithaa’s tenure, several welfare schemes were implemented for the benefit of the people and the same was being done now.

'Mr Stalin is not able to tolerate all these that is why he is making false charges against the government', the Chief Minister said. Mr Palaniswami said it was the DMK which had tried to prevent the government from giving Special Pongal gift of Rs 1,000 to the ration card holders by filing a case in the High Court.

However, justice won and people got the gift hampers and celebrated the festival happily, he said.(UNI)
