Cheap gimmick, says Stalin

Leader of the Opposition in Tamil Nadu and DMK president M K Stalin, who has already proclaimed Congress president Rahul Gandhi  as the Prime Minister face of the non-BJP front, has dismissed the Centre’s interim budget as  a “cheap gimmick” to divert people’s attention from the failures of the Modi Government in the last four and a half years

He has also said the BJP is trying to derive political mileage from schemes like cash for small farmers The New India by 2022 and 10 projects for Vision 2030 are nothing more eye-catching slogans.

“Deploying its usual accounting jugglery, the BJP Government has pegged the fiscal deficit lower at 3.4 per cent against the expected 4.5 per cent”, he has said.
