Chennai, Feb 1: The Budget session of the Tamil Nadu Assembly would commence on February eight. In a statement here on Friday, Legislative Assembly Secretary K Srinivasan said Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, who also holds the Finance Portfolio, will present the Budget for the year 2019-20 on that day.
The House would commence at 10 am on that day. The session was advanced this year perhaps in view of the Lok Sabha elections, which were due in three months time. After the presentation of the budget, the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) would meet at Speaker P Dhanapal's chamber to decide on the duration of the session, which sources said was likely to last for nearly a week.
With the Lok Sabha polls round the corner, Mr Panneerselvam was expected to outline several new initiatives and welfare measures for the people in the budget. (UNI)
