Tiruchirapalli, Oct 16: Passengers of the Singapore-bound Air India Express remained stranded at Tiruchirapalli International Airport for 24 hours, owing to technical snag in the air-conditioning system in the flight on Monday.
Airport sources said the Air India Express aircraft AXB 682 arrived Tiruchirapalli airport at 03.00 PM on Sunday and it was slated to depart to Singapore at 04.10 PM. The flight pilot and co-pilot noticed a technical snag in the air-conditioning system, while readying for a take off with 115 passengers.
The passengers also made a complaint to the flight crew about the non-working of air-conditioning system, following which the technical snag was immediately brought to the notice of the Air Traffic Control and the airport authorities.
A technical team attempted to rectify the snag, but could not able to restore it.
All the passengers were deplaned immediately and were made to wait at the airport. Since, the technical snag could not be rectified, the passengers were accommodated in a hotel for a overnight stay.
In view of the inordinate delay, some of the passengers cancelled their tickets and the remaining stranded passengers were sent to Singapore in an another Air India Express flight this evening, airport officials said.
The cancelled Air India Express had flown to Chennai today for undergoing repair works.(UNI)
